Aug 12 (Reuters) – Following are security developments in Iraq at 1520 GMT on Wednesday.

* KIRKUK – Three policemen were killed and three wounded when defusing a car bomb north of Kirkuk, 250 km (155 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

MOSUL – A bomb attached to a car killed one person and wounded another in northern Mosul, 390 km (240 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

MOSUL – Gunmen killed an old man near his home in northeastern Mosul, north of Baghdad, police said.

MAHMUDIYA – A roadside bomb wounded three civilians when it exploded inside a bus station in Mahmudiya town, 30 km (20 miles) south of Baghdad, police said.

RAMADI – Gunmen wounded a policeman when they attacked an Iraqi police patrol east of Ramadi, 100 km (60 miles) west of Baghdad, police said.

They said police killed two gunmen in the attack.

RAMADI – A suicide car bomber targeting a police station wounded eight policemen in western Ramadi, west of Baghdad, police said.

KIRKUK – A roadside bomb targeting an Iraqi police patrol killed a policeman and wounded five in central Kirkuk, north of Baghdad, police said.

QAIYARA – Gunmen shot dead an off-duty police officer as he was leaving a funeral service in Qaiyara town, 290 km (180 miles) north of Baghdad late on Tuesday, police said.

BAAJ – Gunmen hurled a hand grenade at a house, killing the mother, her two children and wounding three other family members in Baaj town, 375 km (233 miles) northwest of Baghdad late on Tuesday, police said.

At least 30 people have been killed in a suicide car bomb attack in Pakistan, officials say.

The attack – at a paramilitary checkpoint 20km from the north-western city of Peshawar – comes as elections for president are under way.

About 70 people were also wounded by the blast, most of them civilians, reports said. (more…)
