An Israeli teenager wounded when a Palestinian rocket hit a bus has died of his injuries.

Daniel Viflic, 16, was on a school bus in southern Israel on 7 April when it was hit by an anti-tank missile fired from the Gaza Strip.

The driver was slightly hurt in the attack, which happened just after the other children had been dropped off.

Nineteen Palestinians died in the ensuing wave of Israeli air strikes and Palestinian counter-attacks.

It was the most serious violence since Israel’s conflict with Hamas in Gaza in December 2008 and January 2009.

About 1,400 Palestinians, more than half of them civilians, and 13 Israelis, including 10 soldiers, were killed.

Eight Afghan children were killed while playing with a rocket round left in a village on Sunday in northern Kunduz province, an official said.

KABUL — Afghanistan’s interior ministry says a rocket attack has killed three civilians inside a home in the northern Kunduz province.

The ministry said Tuesday that the rocket also wounded three civilians in the home. The statement blamed insurgents for the Monday night attack. (more…)

Aug 14 (Reuters) – Following are security developments in Afghanistan at 1200 GMT on Friday:

BAGHLAN – Five civilians, including two women and two children, were killed in crossfire between Taliban insurgents and government troops in northern Baghlan province on Thursday, a local official said.

WARDAK – Twelve insurgents were killed when Afghan and foreign forces targetted a compound of militants in Sayed Abad district, Wardak province. District official Fazel Karim said the compound was a training centre manned by four Arabs who were also among the dead.

HELMAND – Eight insurgents were killed when Afghan troops clashed with insurgents in Nawzad district, Helmand province. (more…)
