KANDAHAR, Afghanistan — A rocket attack in Afghanistan’s south wounded two children Sunday, a reminder of militant violence threatening the country as the presidential election approaches.

The rocket hit a shop in Kandahar city, where the children were working inside, police official Mohammad Jan said. No group immediately claimed responsibility.

The attack came a day after a suicide car bomb killed seven people and wounded 91 outside NATO’s military headquarters in Kabul. The Taliban said it was responsible. (more…)

Two bombs in Afghanistan have killed at least 14 civilians, including several children, just days ahead of nationwide elections, officials say.
