Three NATO soldiers were killed in separate attacks by militants in Afghanistan on Thursday, the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said.
Two of them died following an improvised explosive device (IED) attack in southern Afghanistan, ISAF said in a statement on Friday.
The third soldier was killed in an unspecified insurgent attack in the country’s east, ISAF Joint Command – Afghanistan said in a separate statement.
It did not disclose the nationality of the deceased, pending communication to the victims’ families.
Roadside bombings using IED have become a hallmark of Taliban militants’ strategy against NATO forces in the country, as it avoids direct confrontation with the troops and increases the casualties.
With this, the number of foreign troops killed in Afghanistan so far this year reached 156.
