One person was killed and another sustained injuries as a bomb went off in northern Kunduz province on Wednesday, deputy to provincial police chief Abdul Rahman Haqtash said.
“The explosive device, planted in a bazaar in Dasht-e-Archi district was detonated at around 03:30 p.m. local time as a result one innocent civilian was killed and another sustained injuries,” Haqtash told Xinhua.
However, he did not give more details, but said that fortunately it was holiday; otherwise the casualties could have been higher.
Afghans have been celebrating Eidul Adha the biggest annual religious festival since Tuesday, and the event is three-day public holiday in Afghanistan.
A suicide attack on Tuesday the first day of Eidul Adha also left two persons including the attacker and a civilian dead and injured five others, all civilians in Afghanistan’s southern Uruzgan province.
Afghan civilians mostly bearing the brunt of war as conflicts and Taliban-linked insurgency, according to officials, have claimed the lives of more than 1,300 civilians in the first six months of the year.
