At least 15 Taliban militants were killed and 13 others were wounded in Afghan forces’ operations in Kandahar province on Monday.
The operations were conducted in the province’s Maroof and Arghistan districts on Monday morning and the Afghan forces also seized some ammunition and a few motorcycles from the Taliban, a Press Release from Kandahar Media Office said.
Afghan and coalition forces have escalated their counter-insurgency operations in the country’s volatile regions, including the southern Kandahar province in which insurgents suffer most casualties.
Meanwhile, at least 3 civilians were killed when a mine exploded in Zherai district of the southern Kandahar province.
The incident occurred on Monday afternoon in which Afghan police also discovered and took control of a stash of ammunitions, the Press Release adds.
Roadside mines are a weapon of choice for insurgents to target Afghan and coalition forces, in which civilians suffer most casualties.
