A series of car bombs in Iraq has killed two police officers and injured 10 others, including two civilians, officials said.
Among the dead is a senior Iraqi police officer who was assassinated when a bomb exploded in his car Thursday, the Kuwaiti news agency KUNA reported.
A police source told KUNA that unidentified militants planted the bomb in a car belonging to Brigadier Abdulrazzaq Abdulwahab. It exploded as he was driving the car in Baghdad’s al-Aamil neighborhood, killing him instantly.
A second car bomb exploded in the same neighborhood, injuring another police officer, and a third car bomb exploded in the al-Karrada neighborhood in Central Baghdad.
In Mosul, a suicide bomber blew up his car, killing a police officer and injuring seven others, the report said.
Another police source told KUNA that five unidentified militants wearing military uniforms, and driving a civilian car, attacked the home of a religious leader in Kirkuk Thursday. One of the militants kidnapped two girls and escaped, the report said.
