GENEVA, July 21 (Reuters) – Intense fighting is making it increasingly difficult to deliver aid to Somalia, where it is crucial to combat cholera outbreaks and maintain food supplies, U.N. agencies said on Tuesday.
An estimated 223,000 people have fled Mogadishu since May 7, when fighting erupted between government troops and al Shabaab militants who control much of southern Somalia and parts of the capital, the U.N. refugee agency said. Read the rest of this entry »

One Palestinian was killed and two were injured in incidents on the Israel-Gaza border on Sunday, Israeli officials and Palestinian medics have said.
The man died in hospital in Israel after he was shot while approaching the border fence. The Israeli military said he did not heed warning shots.

BAGHDAD — Five Iraqi police officers and three civilians were shot dead in a series of seven attacks by gunmen on Monday in the restive northern city of Mosul, and a car bomb near the headquarters of the provincial government in the western city of Ramadi killed two policemen, security officials said.
