CIVIC is a Washington-based organization founded by the late Marla Ruzicka, a passionate humanitarian killed by a suicide bomb in Baghdad while advocating for war victims in Iraq.

CIVIC believes that civilians injured and the families of those killed should be recognized and aided by the warring parties involved, and is working toward smart, compassionate policies for civilians caught in the crossfire of conflict.

LEBANON: 2 men die of their wounds in Lebanon explosion

BEIRUT, Lebanon (AP) — A Lebanese civilian and a soldier died Tuesday of wounds inflicted by this week’s bombing in the northern city of Tripoli, raising the total death toll to seven, security officials said.

The total dead from Monday’s explosion include five soldiers and two Lebanese civilians, the officials said on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.

The remote-control car bomb that ripped through a military bus in Tripoli also wounded two dozen people.

It was the second deadly attack targeting troops in the restive area in less than two months.

Suspicion immediately fell on al-Qaida-inspired Fatah Islam militants locked in bitter conflict with the army.
