    CIVIC is a Washington-based organization founded by the late Marla Ruzicka, a passionate humanitarian killed by a suicide bomb in Baghdad while advocating for war victims in Iraq.

    CIVIC believes that civilians injured and the families of those killed should be recognized and aided by the warring parties involved, and is working toward smart, compassionate policies for civilians caught in the crossfire of conflict.

AFGHANISTAN: Suicide bomber hits U.N. Afghan convoy, 3 dead

KABUL, Sept 14 (Reuters) – A suicide bomber rammed a car into a U.N. convoy on Sunday as it drove through a market in southern Afghanistan, killing a driver and two local doctors, U.N. officials and police said.

In a separate incident, six children were killed and 12 wounded when they set off a roadside bomb they were playing with in Ghazni province, south of Kabul. District governor Rahim Daisiwal said the bomb had been planted by Taliban militants. Read the rest of this entry »
